Summary
The City of Pflugerville staff solicited sealed bids for the purchase of aluminum chlorhydrate solution for the Water Treatment Plant. Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks; notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration; and, companies who had expressed interest in this project were notified. Four qualified bids were received: Thatcher Company at $.297 per pound; Gulbrandsen Technologies at $.315 per pound; GEO Specialty Chemicals at $.317 per pound; and, Altivia at $.385 per pound. Water treatment staff has checked references. Finance staff verified all information regarding insurance requirements. The City Attorney has reviewed all contract documents. Fiscal Impact
The budget for water treatment chemicals is included in the Water Treatment Plant department. The anticipated annual expenditure of $80,000 for this chemical is included in that budget item.
Staff Recommendation
Authorize the City Manager to execute a one year, with the possiblity of two annual renewals, contract to Thatcher Company in the amount of $.297 per pound with an estimated annual load count of 6 at 45,000 pounds per load.
