Title

Discuss and consider action to approve the commissioning of “Daydreams in Bloom,” a second phase of a mural installation series along Gilleland Creek West Trail at Grand Avenue Parkway.

Summary

The "Daydreams in Bloom" mural, designed by Ernesto Hernandez and Cindy Tobar (Ernesto Cindy Design is proposed for consideration by the Commission. The proposed mural would be located right next to the Phase 1 mural, “Flight of the Pollinator Planes” by Liza Fishbone. The proposed mural aligns with the City’s pollinator initiatives and the City's most desired themes for the public art collection. Per community survey results, cultural diversity, heritage, nature, wildlife, pfun and inspirational themes are the most desirable.

In partnership with the City, the artists anticipate holding a community-paint day, initiating the mural installation process in mid-November.

Artist Statement: Daydreams in Bloom captures the bright, boundless spirit of imagination. A young girl reclines in quiet thought, framed by a glowing sunburst and the gentle rhythm of swirling colors. Around her, flowers open to the light, and a hummingbird hovers mid-flight-symbols of growth, curiosity, and the fleeting yet vibrant moments that shape our lives. The bold palette and layered patterns draw from both natural beauty and cultural motifs, blending them into a visual meditation on hope and possibility. This mural is an invitation to pause, look closer, and remember that within each of us lives a garden of ideas waiting to bloom.
