Approving the procurement of a clarifier drive in the amount of $112,925, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
As part of the FY2025 budget, City Council approved the allocation to replace the last remaining clarifier drive at the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant that has been in service for almost 40 years. This drive is responsible for collecting the solids at the bottom of the secondary clarifiers for both final wasting and also to concentrate the Return Activated Sludge (RAS) for internal treatment plant microbial seeding. As the existing clarifier is an Ovivo manufactured product, the drive that is being proposed to replace the unit is from Ovivo to ensure all of the other components of the clarifier line up properly without the use of adapter mechanisms within the unit. This purchase is to procure the entire drive assembly in-kind to extend the useful life of the clarifier itself.
The original allocation for this drive replacement in the FY2025 budget was $110,000, but with savings within other purchases in the Capital Outlay budget, the overall line item will be still be under budget for the year. The current encumbrances on this line item including this drive replacement totaled $295,765 versus an approved budget for this line item of $305,000. This purchase meets the City’s strategic goal of infrastructure by continuing to maintain existing infrastructure to be resilient to meet City wastewater treatment demands.
