Title

Approving a resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for and to accept, if awarded, a Fiscal Year 2026 Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) Grant award in the amount of $84,000.00 from the Office of the Governor for sustainment funding of the Pflugerville Police Department’s Automated License Plate Reader program.

 

Summary

This resolution authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a Fiscal Year 2026 PSN Grant award in the amount of $84,000.00 from the Office of the Governor for the continued funding of the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) program which was funded with a Fiscal Year 2022, Fiscal Year 2023, Fiscal Year 2024 and Fiscal Year 2025 PSN Grant.  This system is used to identify, apprehend, and recover stolen vehicles entering the city limits and named “hot spots” within the city.  The Camera systems further assist in identifying known wanted suspects, assist in solving violent crimes, track known suspects linked to crimes within this and surrounding jurisdictions. There is no funding match for this grant from the City. Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents upon final approval of the City Attorney. Prior City Council Action

In February of 2021, City Council authorized the City Manager to apply for, and accept if awarded, a Department of Justice Project Safe Neighborhood Grant for the implementation of an ALPR program.

In April of 2022, City Council authorized the City Manager to apply for, and accept if awarded, a Department of Justice Project Safe Neighborhood Grant for the expansion of the ALPR program .

In April of 2023, City Council authorized the City Manager to apply for, and accept if awarded, a Department of Justice Project Safe Neighborhood Grant for the expansion of the ALPR program .

In March of 2024, City Council authorized the City Manager to apply for, and accept if awarded, a Department of Justice Project Safe Neighborhood Grant for continued sustainment funding of the ALPR program .
