Title

Award presentation to Police Chief Chuck Hooker for 2011 Outstanding Crime Prevention Manager from the Central Texas Crime Prevention Association (CTCPA).

Summary

The Central Texas Crime Prevention Association (CTCPA) is a non-profit organization consisting of police officers, crime prevention specialists and practitioners, concerned business representatives and citizens that are dedicated to reducing the opportunity for crime.  Their organization currently has members from 31 different agencies as well as 10 civilians and 5 retired officers.  Each year the CTCPA recognizes members of the association as well as others who have made a significant impact in the field of crime prevention.  We are pleased to announce that Police Chief Chuck Hooker was honored to receive the 2011 Outstanding Crime Prevention Manager for small agencies up to 99,999.

Chief Hooker has always been a strong supporter of crime prevention in the City of Pflugerville.  Chief Hooker created and participates in the City's "Cool Moves" program which encourages children to wear helmets while riding their bicycles and to be safe in traffic by providing "citations" for a free ice cream cone to children observing safe practices.  Chief Hooker assists at the annual bike rodeo and purchased a robotic bike that is a big hit with children in the Pflugerville community as well as at Dell Children's Hospital.  Chief Hooker initiated the City's "Drop It and Lock It" campaign designed to help stop theft and burglaries of motor vehicles.  Chief Hooker attends DARE graduation ceremonies to show his support for the curriculum and the students.  Each year during National Night Out, Chief Hooker attends parties along with other police officers and city officials to connect with the community and support crime prevention at the neighborhood level.  During the local chamber of commerce business expo, Chief Hooker can be found assisting at the city's and police department's tables and with the Child ID program.  Chief Hooker also assists each year with the Blue Santa program and is active with the Citizens on Patrol Alumni and its academy.  Chief Hooker's contributions are many to the City of Pflugerville and to the community.  We are pleased to take this opportunity to thank him and to honor him on this achievement.
