Approving a resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for and to accept, if awarded, a First Responder Mental Health Program Grant award for $10,258.61.00 from the Office of the Governor for the enhancement of the current Police Resiliency Program for department staff.

 

Summary

This resolution authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a First Responder Mental Health Program Grant award for $10,258.61.00 from the Office of the Governor for the enhancement of the current Police Resiliency Program for department staff.  The funding will support health programs, peer support training, stress training for officers and civilian staff, and a staff library which will provide literature pertaining to job related stress and PTSD. There is a 20% funding match for this grant from the City which will be met with salary and fringe benefits of the Lieutenant overseeing the program.  Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents upon final approval of the City Attorney. Please find the attached resolution.

 

Prior City Council Action

The City Council approved a grant application in March 2019 allowing for a First Responder Mental Health Program Grant award in the amount of $19,720.00.
