Summary
This action item is to approve a five year contract with VertexOne Software, LLC to provide the WaterSmart software. The City has been using this software for the last five years. The software can be customized for each customer who enrolls in the portal. Customers can set alerts for unusual increases in water usage, giving them greater control over their consumption. These alerts can also notify customers of potential leaks, allowing them to address issues before they become severe or before they receive a higher bill the next month. City staff will also have the ability to set alerts, enabling our water conservation team to identify heavy water users, reduce water waste, and support our conservation goals.
Additionally, WaterSmart allows Utility Billing staff to respond to customer calls more efficiently by providing immediate access to a customer’s water usage while still on the phone. This leads to quicker answers for customers and reduces the need to send a Meter Technician to the property to check for issues.
This software has been instrumental during our current water restrictions, as it has provided valuable information regarding high water users, allowing enforcement to follow up with these customers.

VertexOne Digital Base - Base cost of the software the features are below**
VXsmart for Water Saas - This is the license fee based upon Meters (or accounts) that allow your customers access to the platform.
Premium Visual Styling Base - Ability for utility staff to specify visual styling elements to match the utility’s branding, including logos and colors.
Premium Visual Styling Variable - This is the licence fee for each individual customer portal.
**The VXsmart product provides an expanded suite of analytics and reporting capabilities for customers and utility staff.
Examples of enhanced functionality include:
• AMI usage analytics
• Seasonal Comparison
• End user estimation
• Home Utility Reports (to drive Behavioral Efficiency)
• Expanded Usage Alerts
• Consumption Reports
• Etc.
VertexOne Digital Base is VertexOne’s Customer Self Service platform designed for use by utility end customers and utility
staff. It includes the following functionality:
• Web portal for customers,
• Management portal for utility staff,
• Progressive web application that works on all customer devices (desktop/mobile/tablet),
• Communication engine for proactive outbound multi-channel communications,
• Electronic document repository,
• Cloud infrastructure setup and support,
• Managed IT security for the in-scope software.
The VertexOne Digital Base can never be purchased stand-alone, it must be purchased with either the VXengage or
VXsmart applications.
