Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Division of Public Works oversees janitorial services for 14 City facilities, covering approximately 160,000 square feet. To help manage the workload, City Council approved the use of a third-party janitorial cleaning service at the August 13, 2024, Council Meeting.
By not filling two unfilled janitorial positions (one full-time and one part-time) and utilizing the approved janitorial service provider, the City realized an annual salary savings of $82,325. With an annual contract cost of $72,240 for outsourcing, the City is achieving a net annual savings of $10,085-while maintaining high service standards.
Austin Professional Cleaning Services, LLC, a vendor with 16 years of experience and a history of serving other government entities, currently provides the contracted services. This arrangement not only yields economic benefits but also provides operational insight useful for future facility planning, including the upcoming Downtown East project.
The contract may be renewed for a 12-month term from August 19, 2025, to August 19, 2026, and may continue on an annual renewal basis thereafter.
