Title
Discuss and consider action to approve a supplemental agreement #1 with Freese and Nichols, Inc. in the amount of $59,782 for professional engineering services associated with the design of the Old Austin-Hutto Road project and authorizing the City Manager to execute the agreement. In addition, approve substitution of Gorrondona & Associates as subconsultant to Freese and Nichols to provide survey services.
Summary
The City of Pflugerville has requested Freese and Nichols to amend the original agreement’s scope of services and fee to include an urban design with drainage for curb and gutter. Revision of the original project scope, which included open drainage swales, to provide an urban section which would include a subsurface drainage system is included. The proposed supplemental services include developing a hydrologic impact assessment and preparing conceptual and final construction documents related to drainage as shown on the attached Professional Services Supplemental Agreement #1.
As per Article 11.2, "Assignment and Subcontracting," the consultant has requested, without objection from City staff, to change the subconsultant to be used for providing survey services from Baker-Aiklen & Associates to Gorrondona & Associates, without change to the original contract amount. The original surveyor, Baker-Aiklen, will no longer provide surveying services and Gorrondona & Associates has submitted a proposal, as approved by Freese and Nichols as shown on the attached letter.
City staff has negotiated with Freese and Nichols, Inc. to establish a scope of services, schedule and fee for this supplemental agreement.
Prior City Council Action
Freese and Nichols, Inc. was selected as the engineering consultant for this project during the City Council Meeting on January 13, 2015. A professional engineering services contract was presented to Council and approved on April 14, 2015.
