Summary
The Scott Mentzer Pool complex was completed in 2005 including the current fence surrounding the pool. Age and wear on the fence has created a safety hazard. Individuals are able to remove fence rods and enter the facility with relative ease, which is of particular concern due to the playground adjacent to the pool. The existing fence does not meet regulations set forth by the City of Austin, the City's designated Health and Safety inspector for public swimming pools. This replacement would bring the fence up to code and mitigate the safety hazards. The fence replacement project includes installation of 545 linear feet of 8 foot high ornamental fence surrounding the pool, necessary gates, and removal and disposal of the current fence.
City of Pflugerville staff solicited sealed bids for the Replacement of fence at Scott Mentzer Pool. Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks; notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration of the bidding process; and Texas Bid System was used to engage additional vendor interest. The City received bids from two companies. Swift Corporation was the lowest responsive bidder at $67,750. Staff has checked the vendor's references and verified the completeness of the bid documents and insurance requirements.
