Approving the selection of Davcar Engineering for the Design and Construction Project Management of two (2) new Skate Spots and authorizing the City Manager to enter into negotiations regarding a scope of work and fee proposal.
Summary
The City of Pflugerville solicited requests for qualifications from engineering and landscape architectural firms to design two neighborhood skate spots at specific locations in the City of Pflugerville in April 2012.
The requests stated that the selected firm would perform the following tasks:
1) Phase 1 - Schematic Study and Design.
Develop schematic layouts depicting the site orientation and the features/ elements for each of the two skate spots. Cost estimates should be developed to assure the project completion within the budget of $100,000 for all costs associated with this project.
2) Phase 2 - Construction Costs.
Upon receiving the City approval of the schematic layouts, prepare construction plans for the two skate spots using City of Pflugerville contract documents. Assist the City with advertising for construction bidding and evaluating the bids received.
3) Phase 3- Consulting Services.
Once the contract for construction is awarded, provide consultation for technical issues during construction as necessary
Status
City staff received seven (7) proposals. A review team made up of Jim Bowlin, Parks and Recreation Director; Tom Word, Assistant City Manager for Community Services; and Kyle Benedict, Athletic and Aquatics Coordinator reviewed and scored the proposals. Davcar Engineering received the highest combined score.
Projected Future City Council Action
A future agenda item will be scheduled to approve the contract with the consultant for the project. Staff anticipates negotiations to take place in the next couple of weeks and a contract to be presented before Council for review and consideration in August.
Fiscal Impact
The funding for this project will come from the Pflugerville Community Development Corporation.
