Title

Approving a resolution regarding joining in the national opioids Secondary Manufacturers Settlements.

Summary

The proposed settlement requires Alvogen, Amneal, Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Sun, and Zydus to pay an estimated $45 million to Texas and its political subdivisions. Distributions within Texas is governed by the Texas Term Sheet, an intrastate agreement between the state and litigating subdivisions. The more subdivisions that join the settlements, the more money everyone in Texas will receive. The funding must be used to support ay of a wide variety of strategies to fight the opioid crisis. Based on the participation forms received, the subdivision participation rate will be used to determine whether participation is sufficient for the settlement and whether a state earns its maximum potential payment. The City of Pflugerville has received about $57,000 from previous opioid settlements.
