Title

Denying and cancelling an ordinance on second reading with the caption reading: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE AND EXCHANGE OF A PORTION OF LOT 4 FOR A PORTION OF LOT 3 WITHIN THE SUBDIVISION PLAT RECORDED IN DOCUMENT NO. 200800320 OF THE OFFICIAL PUBLIC RECORDS OF TRAVIS COUNTY TEXAS TITLED PFLUGERVILLE INDUSTRIAL PARK PERMITTING THE RECONFIGURATION OF LOT 3 AND LOT 4 OF THE FINAL PLAT OF PFLUGERVILLE INDUSTRIAL PARK INTO LOTS 3A AND 4A; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary

The City of Pflugerville is the owner of Lot 4 in the Pflugerville Industrial Park generally located at the northeast corner of Weiss Lane and Via Sorento Drive. This lot is landlocked from Weiss Lane, and is contiguous to additional city owned property to the east (Randig Tract) located between the the Reserve at West Creek and the Sorento subdivisions. Together these properties were evaluated as the basis of a feasibility study for a regional athletic complex. Due to a lack of suitable access and the proximity of the residential development, alternative locations for the regional athletic complex were considered resulting in the ultimate acquisition of the 237-acre Rosa Pfluger Tract on Cameron Road. Access remains a hindrance to the utilization of the Randig Tract and the City sought a mutually agreeable opportunity to exchange property between lots 3 and 4, netting the city (Lot 4A) viable access to and from Weiss Lane that will be shared among the adjacent properties.

This ordinance was approved on first reading on December 8, 2015.

Projected Future City Council Action

None.

Fiscal Impact

The City of Pflugerville General Fund operating budget is bearing the costs associated with the preparation of the plat and closing of the transaction, estimated to be approximately $15,000.

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends denial and cancellation of this ordinance at this time.
