Title
Approving a construction contract with G Hyatt Construction, Inc. in the amount of $8,901,547 for the construction of the 1849 Park Phase 2 Project associated with Proposition B of the 2020 General Obligation Bond parks and recreation projects, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.

 

Summary
On June 14, 2016, the Pflugerville City Council approved the 1849 Park Master Plan, which proposed a phased approach for the development of the sports complex and park. Construction of Phase 1 started in 2017 and included three football fields, three multipurpose fields, restroom facilities, and parking.  For Phase 2, construction will include two 225-foot baseball fields, one 225-foot softball field, two asphalt parking lots, concrete walking trails, and restroom and concessions facilities.   

Staff conducted a competitive sealed proposal bidding process and received two competitive sealed proposals for construction services associated with the 1849 Park Phase 2 project. Based on the results of the evaluation of the proposals, staff is recommending Council approve a construction contract with G Hyatt Construction, Inc. in the amount of $8,901,547.  The proposed construction duration for Phase 2 is anticipated to be approximately 10 months.

Looking ahead, staff will be bringing forward to City Council a construction contract for the next construction phase that expands the parking facilities constructed in the first phase, installs lighting in those parking and field facilities, and implements detention to accommodate the existing and proposed park development.
  Staff will also bring forward to City Council on September 10, 2024 a contract to purchase the lighting for the baseball fields and parking facilities from Musco Sports Lighting, LLC.

This agenda item is related to the agenda item for the purchase of the lighting from Musco Sports Lighting, Inc. and for the resolution to approve the installation of athletic field lighting at 1849 Park. 

Prior City Council Action
City Council approved a Professional Services Supplemental Agreement #2 for Burditt Consultants, LLC in the amount of $271, 663.00 to add design of Parking, Lighting, and Drainage/Detention for the area initially developed under Phase I of the 1849 Park to the Agreement at the February 27, 2024 Council meeting.

City Staff executed Professional Services Supplemental Agreement  #1 Burditt Consultants, LLC in the amount of $27,702.00 to add a Drainage Study for 1849 Park Phase 1 to the Agreement on February 23, 2023.

City Council approved a Professional Services Agreement with Burditt Consultants, LLC for the design of 1849 Park Phase 2 in the amount of $1,915,050.00 at the July 27, 2021 Council meeting.

In 2020, City of Pflugerville voters approved Proposition B, the issuance of  $42,300,000 bonds to fund parks and recreation projects including 1849 Park Phase 2.
