Title
Approving a resolution establishing the general programming for the multi-generational recreation center to be located in Downtown East.
Summary
The City's consultant, FGM Architects, Inc. with a subconsultant team of Barker Rinker Seacat (BRS) Architecture, provided an update on the programming efforts of the future multi generational recreation center (PfRC), to be located in Downtown East, at the October 25th City Council meeting. During this meeting options were discussed related to the various components that could be included in the PfRC.
This resolution confirms the desire by City Council to program a recreational facility that would include four basketball courts, large leisure water facility with lap lanes, large weight room, an indoor turf field, a multi-level adventure/walking track throughout the whole facility and related support programming such as child watch, indoor play ground, party rental rooms and event space.
This project is currently in Phase One, which will determine the project concept including facility size, program of a new multi generational recreation center, estimation of the total project cost, project schedule, pro forma, and examine best uses of the site for input on public private partnership (P3) possibilities. This phase is anticipated to be completed by January 2022 in order to prepare for the next phase. Phase two will include full design services including construction administration.
