Title
Approving the procurement of utility fleet vehicles in the amount of $745,927, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
As part of the FY2026 budget, 11 fleet vehicles were scheduled for purchase to support the new Wilbarger Wastewater Treatment Facility, the Surface Water Treatment Plant Expansion, and to replace aging vehicles from the existing fleet. These vehicles will be used by new staff responsible for operating and maintaining the Wilbarger facility, as well as by staff maintaining new equipment installed as part of the Surface Water Treatment Plant Expansion.
All replacement vehicles were reviewed during the standard budgeting process to ensure they met the City’s Comprehensive Vehicle Use Policy for replacement eligibility. New and replacement vehicles were specified based on the operational needs of the water and wastewater utility staff.
While these vehicle purchases came in approximately $50,000 over budget, this overage is offset by savings of about $100,000 on heavy equipment, keeping overall equipment costs under budget for FY2026. The vehicles will be purchased through Silsbee Ford using their TIPS cooperative purchasing contract, allowing for direct procurement through an approved co-op dealership.
This item is supported by the Residential and Node Development and Economic and Business Development pillars of the Strategic Plan by ensuring continued robust operation of the City’s infrastructure systems to support the ability to foster these pillars of the Strategic Plan.
