Summary
This item considers approval of a Professional Services Agreement with TBG Partners in the amount of $375,511 for site inventory and analysis, conceptual development, surveying, and preparation of a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) for the proposed Destination Playspace at Bohls Park.
The Destination Playspace is envisioned as a unique, innovative, and inclusive regional park destination featuring all-abilities play areas, multi-generational recreation opportunities, trail connections, parking, restrooms, and supporting amenities. Located at Bohl’s Park and adjacent to the City's existing trail network, the project is intended to serve residents of all ages and abilities while further enhancing connectivity within the park system.
The proposed scope of work includes site analysis, program assessment, conceptual design development, floodplain evaluation, preliminary engineering, cost estimating, and public engagement materials. The project team includes TBG Partners, Walter P Moore, and LA-N-D, who will work collaboratively to evaluate opportunities and constraints, develop conceptual alternatives, and prepare a Preliminary Engineering Report to guide future project implementation and funding decisions.
The project is anticipated to be completed within approximately four months and represents the first step in the development of the Destination Playspace at Bohls Park. The resulting conceptual plans, engineering analysis, and preliminary cost estimates are vital to defining the project and guiding future design, funding, and construction efforts.
TBG Partners has extensive experience delivering award-winning park and recreation projects throughout Texas and was selected to help advance a key recommendation of the 2023 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan: the development of destination-level recreational amenities that serve residents of all ages and abilities.
