Title
Presentation on Public Works staff continuing efforts to encourage environmental stewardship and water conservation by holding an annual Clean Up Day on April 12 and selling rain barrels to Pflugerville citizens.

Summary
Clean Up Day is an annual event hosted by the City of Pflugerville Public Works Department to encourage residents to recycle and allow for proper disposal of items.

On Saturday, April 12, from 8:30 a.m. to noon residents may dispose of tires, brush and tree limbs, electronics, furniture, household trash, latex paint, vehicle batteries, paper/cardboard/plastics, used motor oil and filters, and scrap metal at 1201 Railroad Ave across the street from Brookhollow Elementary School.  You must be in line by 11:30 a.m to ensure entry. No commercial contractors are allowed to dispose of items at Clean Up Day. Only City of Pflugerville residents and/or utility customers may participate in the event.  Residents may be asked to show a photo ID with an address within the city limits or a city of Pflugerville utility bill.

Public Works staff reminds all City solid waste customers that you don't have to wait in line at Clean Up Day to dispose or recycle items like furniture, brush and tree limbs, paper, cardboard and plastics as these items may be put out on the curb on your normal trash or recycle day. Each week, the garbage truck will collect up to six additional items or trash bags in addition to your trash can.  The city also encourages residents to use the curbside recycling carts provided by Progressive Waste Solutions to recycle all accepted items as shown on the lid.

The city operates a recycle center, 15500 Sun Light Near Way, to provide opportunities to recycle many objects not accepted at curbside including vehicle batteries and tires (up to 4 per year per household). The facility collects recyclable materials only.  No trash is accepted as it contaminates the recycle bins. For a full list of items accepted at the recycle center and the hours of operation, visit www.pflugervilletx.gov/recyclecenter.
