Summary
This item approves an agreement with Fun Abounds, Inc., a BuyBoard cooperative purchasing vendor (BuyBoard Contract #781-25), in the amount of $206,367 for the removal of existing decomposed granite (DG) trail surfaces and installation of a concrete ADA-accessible trail at Central Park.
The project includes demolition of the existing DG trail, light grading and site preparation, installation of approximately 11,000 square feet of 10-foot-wide, 4-inch-thick concrete trail, and repair of washout areas to improve long-term durability and accessibility.
This project is part of the City’s ADA Transition Plan and continues the systematic conversion of remaining DG trails to accessible concrete surfaces. Central Park is one of three remaining parks with DG trails, along with Lake Pflugerville Park and Bohls Park. Converting these trails improves accessibility, reduces long-term maintenance costs, and supports compliance with ADA standards.
Funding for this project is included in the City’s Annual Trail Improvement Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
This item supports the Mobility Infrastructure & Connectivity pillar of the Strategic Plan by enhancing safe and accessible trail infrastructure throughout the community. It also supports the Community Amenities & Events pillar by improving accessibility and usability within one of the City’s core park facilities.
