Approving the procurement of a front end loader in the amount of $345,628, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
As part of the FY2026 budget, a front-end loader was budgeted to support the new Wilbarger Wastewater Treatment Facility to allow for material to be moved inside the facility as part of the normal wastewater treatment process. This equipment allows for biosolids to be transferred within the facility and for transport of any screenings at the headworks of the facility which is like what is done at the existing Central Wastewater Treatment Facility.
This equipment was specified to meet the same requirements as the existing front end loader at the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant given the similar conditions they operate within. The equipment was also specified to be the same manufacturer to ensure ease of staff operational training in the event operations staff cross-train at both wastewater treatment facility which ensures that coverage can be maintained across both facilities.
This proposal for this piece of heavy equipment came in roughly $100,000 under the budgeted amount in the FY2026 budget with some savings from this purchase being utilized to cover FY2026 fleet purchases.
This item is supported by the Residential and Node Development and Economic and Business Development pillars of the Strategic Plan by ensuring continued robust operation of the City’s infrastructure systems to support the ability to foster these pillars of the Strategic Plan.
