Approving a professional services supplemental agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc. in the amount of $72,515 for professional engineering services associated with the Secondary Colorado River Raw Water Line project, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.

 

Summary

The Secondary Colorado River Raw Waterline project includes approximately 15 miles of 42-inch water pipeline and improvements to the Colorado River Intake Pump Station to allow for increase transfer in water supply from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA).  The City through a revised agreement with LCRA has increase its annual allotment from 12,000 acre-feet per year to 24,000 acre-feet per year. The project includes four contracts: Early procurement of Pump Station Components (Package 1); two segment of Pipeline (Package 2 & Package 3) , and Pumps Station Improvements (Package 4).

 

This item requests City Council approval of a supplemental agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc. to provide construction phase services associated with Package 1 of the Secondary Colorado River Raw Water Line project. Package 1 includes prepurchase of long-lead equipment for expansion of the Colorado River Raw Water Pump Station, including pumps, motors, electrical gear, and generator. This agreement will also include services by Gupta and Associates, Inc. as they’re providing electrical engineering services for the project.

 

This project supports the Strategic Plan by maintaining and preparing a robust, resilient infrastructure.

 

Prior City Council Action

Pflugerville City Council previously approved a contract for design and bid phase services for the Secondary Colorado River Raw Water Line project with Freese and Nichols, Inc. on February 8, 2022.
