Summary
The Pflugerville Heights & Black Locust Parks Project involves the construction of two currently undeveloped neighborhood parks. Each park will receive various amenities including playgrounds, pavilions, site amenities and landscape improvements (concept plans attached). This construction contract does not include the actual playground equipment or the pavilions. These items will be supplied by another vendor and under a separate contract.
These parks were included in the Trails Master Plan and Undeveloped Parks Study that was completed by RVi and approved by the City Council in spring 2014. These parks were recommended for funding by the Parks & Recreation Commission at its June 2014 meeting and the City Council approved them as a project at the August 26, 2014 meeting. The full project budget is attached, which includes items that were planned, but are not currently funded.
If the contract is awarded, construction is expected to begin in March 2015 with completion projected for July 2015. The attached tabulation of bids includes the base bid and bid alternate values in which the lowest responsive bidder was Fazzone Construction Co., Inc.
Deadline for City Council Action
Action is requested on February 24, 2015.
Fiscal Impact
The project is funded with Park Escrow funds and Deutschen Pfest proceeds. The additional components shown on the attachment will be funded in the future.
