Approving a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the installation and reimbursement for the Operation and Maintenance of Traffic Signals upon completion of current TxDOT signal upgrades.
Summary
As mentioned in the previous item regarding the City assuming responsibility with respect to Operations and Maintenance of signals; the City has coordinated with TxDOT to get appropriate reimbursement for taking over operations and maintenance of the 12 signals that were proposed to be maintained and operated by the City upon completion of current TxDOT signal upgrades.
As reflected in the agreement, the maximum amount payable is $57,558 broken down as TxDOT ‘Non-Freeway’ Signal = $475 per signal per month and TxDOT Freeway Interchange = $712.50 per freeway interchange per month including signals on both frontage roads.
It’s important to reiterate that while the City is not required to take over the 12 signals, having the ability to operate and maintain these signals provides the City with the autonomy and opportunity to drive improvements and create efficiencies. This agreement will serve to off-set the costs for the opportunity to make signal improvements and better the transportation infrastructure.
