Announcing Pflugerville as the winner of the Healthy at H-E-B Community Challenge.
Summary
Pflugerville received first place for small cities in the state of Texas for the Healthy at HEB community challenge, the signature, annual competition initiative of It's Time Texas in which cities mobilize to generate healthy actions. Earning 136,665 points, the City of Pflugerville completed the eight-week initiative to encourage Pflugerville residents and others to be Pflugerville Pfit declaring "Pflugerville is Pfit, are you?"
The Community Challenge energized Pflugerville's focus on fitness while uniting residents through fitness and volunteering efforts to better the community. The city, school district and individual resident efforts led to Pflugerville winning the challenge which lasted from September 1 - October 31, 2012. The proclamation announcing the City of Pflugerville's participation in the challenge is attached to this agenda item.
As a participant, Mayor Jeff Coleman signed the official registration form and participated in a promotional video showing our support of the event. Representatives from HEB, Active Life and It's Time Texas are attending the City Council meeting to present the winning trophy and a banner to display at the corner of FM 1825 and Pecan announcing Pflugerville's win.
Additional recognition and an awards ceremony will take place in December (details to be announced).
