Title
Approving a resolution of the City of Pflugerville, Texas appointing representatives to the Technical Advisory Committee of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) Transportation Policy Board.
Summary
The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson Counties in central Texas. CAMPO was established in 1973 and is governed by the Transportation Policy Board (CAMPO Board) comprised of regional and local officials.

The purpose of CAMPO is to coordinate regional transportation planning with counties, cities, the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Capital Metro), the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS), Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and other transportation providers in the region and to approve the use of federal transportation funds within the region.

The Transportation Policy Board approved revised Bylaws governing the Technical Advisory Committee on November 14, 2011. As noted in the attached correspondence, CAMPO is requesting each jurisidiction to appoint or confirm the appropriate number of employed staff and alternate(s) that have expertise in transportation planning, implementation of transportation projects, or related field.

Mr. Tom Word, who recently started as an Assistant City Manager, oversees the Public Works and Park and Recreation departments which includes maintenance of streets and trails and is a registered professional engineer. Regionally significant roadways and hike and bike trails are considered eligible for funding through CAMPO. Mr. Word has also served as the committee's chair.

Status
Currently, Pflugerville's Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) representative is Mr.Trey Fletcher and the alternate member is Ms. Patricia Davis as appointed by the City Council. Mayor Pro Tem Victor Gonzales represents Pflugerville on the Transportation Policy Board.
