Summary
The City of Pflugerville uses a variety of chemicals in water and wastewater operations. City staff solicited sealed bids for the purchase of four chemicals for a term of 3 years (36 months), with the option for two additional 12-month renewals. Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks; notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration of the bidding process; and Texas Bid System was used to engage additional vendor interest. Eight vendors provided pricing on one or more chemicals.
Brenntag, SW, Inc. was selected as the lowest responsible bidder on the following chemicals at the prices provided for each process and/or location:
Sodium Hypochlorite wastewater treatment $ 1.65/gallon
The City received up to three bids for each of these chemicals. The bid document and tabulation sheets are attached to this agenda item. Per the City's Purchasing Policy, "All Contracts and/or expenditures in excess of $50,000 must be approved in advance by City Council regardless of the procurement method. This applies to purchase(s) made in the same fiscal year from the same vendor for the same goods or services that total over $50,000 and a contract this is executed for more than $50,000 regardless of term."
The City has had a successful relationship with Brenntag, SW, Inc. for several years.
