Approving an ordinance on second reading with the caption reading: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES CHAPTER 95; SECTIONS 95.41, 95.42 AND 95.43 BY DESIGNATING MEMBERS OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AS THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE TREE CARE ADVISORY BOARD AND DESIGNATION OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR AS THE CITY STAFF PERSON OVERSEEING THE CARE OF PUBLIC TREES; PROVIDING FOR A CUMULATIVE & CONFLICTS CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Summary
In furtherance of the direction to evaluate the number and effectiveness of the various boards and commissions in the city, staff has reviewed the role and responsibility of both the Tree Care Advisory Board and the Parks and Recreation Commission. As a result of this effort, staff recommends maintaining the roles and duties of the Tree Care Advisory Board by designating members of the Parks and Recreation Commission as the members of the Tree Care Advisory Board. The current composition of the Tree Care Advisory Board consists of expired terms or members who are no longer eligible to serve due to residency requirements. This action affords the opportunity to continue participation in the Tree City USA program who have recognized the City for its achievements in this area for the last five years. In addition, the Parks and Recreation Director will assume the primary duties associated with the Tree Care Advisory Board which were previously delegated to the City Forester.
