Summary
This item has been included on the worksession agenda to allow for discussion. Staff has been evaluating options to provide consumer and environmental health services related inspections on behalf of the City of Pflugerville, and is currently in discussions with the City of Austin.
Austin's Public Heatlh department has an extensive history of working with most jurisdictions in Travis County to perform these inspections which includes:
ILA services related to food, swimming pools & custodial care facilities: Lakeway, Manor, Rollingwood, Sunset Valley, West Lake Hills, Travis County (includes environmental);
ILA services related to food & custodial care facilities: Bee Cave;
ILA services related to environmental investigations: San Leanna.
All of these ILA partnerships are at least ten years old; most ILAs have been in effect considerably longer.
The purpose of this item is to intiate related discussions with the City Council in advance of the budget submittal. Among the prompts for this evaluation is managing the interest and demand for food trucks, optimizing internal and external customer service and staff resources, as well as providing for greater uniformity across Travis County.
