Title
Procurement of repair and rebalancing services for a Centrifuge Rotating Assembly at the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant to GEA Mechanical Equipment US, Inc. in the amount of $166,365.72.
Summary
The Central Wastewater Treatment Plant has three Centrifuge Rotating Assemblies, two of which are in operation at all times. The three assemblies are put in service on a rotational schedule allowing for ongoing preventative maintenance on each unit without any impact to treatment plant operations. The centrifuges are designed to run at a very high speed in order to separate solid and liquid content, ultimately producing a disposable solid waste. Due to the frequency each unit is used, and the high speed the unit operates, it is necessary to have the rotating assemblies sent out to be rebalanced and refurbished every 5 years. One of the three units was last taken out of service for rebalancing and refurbishment in 2021.
GEA Mechanical Equipment US, Inc. is the sole-source of authorized service for the centrifuges. This repair is funded through the Maintenance and Repairs line item within the Wastewater Treatment budget.
This item is supported by the Residential and Node Development and Economic and Business Development pillars of the Strategic Plan by ensuring continued robust operation of the City’s infrastructure systems to support the ability to foster these pillars of the Strategic Plan.
