Approving a resolution extending the Mayor's Disaster Declaration issued February 16, 2021 in response to severe winter weather and providing approval of payment for related expenses.
Summary
In response to the severe winter weather event, Mayor Gonzales declared a local state of disaster and public health emergency for the City of Pflugerville pursuant to §418.108(a) of the Texas Government Code on February 16, 2021, in order to take extraordinary and immediate measures to respond quickly for those effected by the winter storm and authorized the use of all available resources of state government and political subdivisions to assist in the City's response. Pursuant to §418.108(b) of the Government Code, the state of disaster and public health emergency continues for a period of not more than seven days from the date of the declaration unless continued or renewed by the City Council.
The attached resolution provides that the declaration of disaster is extended for 30 days (through March 18, 2021) and related expenditures in response to this severe winter weather event are approved. This action is necessary to repair and restore City facilities, operations and services effected by this severe winter weather event and to preserve and protect the public health.
