Awarding the construction contract for the 2013 Various Sidewalk and City Hall ADA Improvements to Austin Constructors LLC, the lowest responsive bidder of 7 bids received on August 26, 2013, in the amount of $73,340 and authorizing the City Manager to execute the contract agreement and authorizing the City Engineer to execute the Notice of Award and Notice to Proceed.

Summary
The 2013 Various Sidewalk and City Hall ADA Improvements project is intended to fill some of the sidewalk gaps along streets included in the safe routes to school program. Included in this project scope are new sidewalks along 10th street, Pfluger Street and at the FM685/Pecan Street intersection.

Also included in this project are the City Hall American with Disabilities Act (ADA) retrofit improvements. A study conducted in June 2011 by H.R. Gray identified areas of the existing City Hall complex that did not meet current ADA specifications. With the completion of this project all identified areas in the study will be brought up to current ADA code requirements.

Construction is expected to begin November 2013 with completion projected for December 2013. The attached “2013 Various Sidewalk and City Hall ADA Tabulation of Bids” includes the base bid values in which the low bidder was Austin Constructors, LLC.

Status
The project was advertised for bids on August 7, 2013. Seven bids were received and opened on August 26, 2013.

Deadline for City Council Action
Staff is requesting approval on September 24, 2013.
Fiscal Impact
The project funding is from the FY 2013 General Capital Reserve.
Staff Recommendation
The Engineering Department recommends awarding contract for the 2013 Various Sidewalk and City Hall ADA Improvements to the lowest responsive bidder, to Austin Constructors LLC, in the amount of $73,340; authorizing the City Manager to execute the contract agreement; and, authorizing the City Engineer to execute the Notice of Award and Notice to Proceed.
