Discuss and consider action regarding a subsidy request for Black Pflugerville's Juneteenth Event.
Summary
City Council approved the City of Pflugerville Special Events Policy on November 29, 2022. Section 16 of the Special Events Policy states requests for City subsidy of an event that serves Pflugerville’s diverse population in a community-oriented environment may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the City Manager’s Office. The City Manager or their designee, may consider providing a subsidy for an event up to the amount established in the annual budget. For subsidy requests over the annual budgeted amount will require review and approval by the City Council.
At the City Council worksession on April 25, 2023, representatives from Black Pflugerville, provided some highlights of their event and have continued to work on the details. Black Pflugerville will be discussing the details of their request with City Council at the meeting. The FY23 budget includes an event subsidy for Juneteeth in the amount of $3,000.
Options for City Council to discuss and consider:
1. Fund the request at the budgeted amount of $3,000
2. Fund a different amount
3. Decline the request
