Title
Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract for sludge hauling and disposal with Sheridan Environmental, LLC in the amount of $395 per load.
 
Summary
The City of Pflugerville staff solicited sealed bids for the hauling of sludge from the Central Wastewater Plant.  Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks; notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration; and, companies who had expressed interest in this project were notified.  The attached bid tab shows the two qualified bids that were received. Sheridan Environmental, LLC submitted the low bid of $395 per load.  The bid documentation submitted by Sheridan Environmental is attached to the agenda item.  Wastewater staff has checked references.  Finance staff verified all information regarding insurance requirements.  
 
Sheridan Environmental was awarded the sludge hauling bid three years ago and has performed well for the city since that time.  The bid price submitted for the current bid, $395 per load, is lower than the previous bid in 2011 of $420 per load.

The bidders were notified that this item would be considered at this meeting.

Fiscal Impact
The budget for sludge hauling and disposal is included in the Wastewater Treatment Plant department in the amount of $115,000.
 
Staff Recommendation
Authorize the City Manager to execute a one year contract, with the possibility of two annual renewals, to Sheridan Environmental, LLC in the amount of $395 per load with an estimated annual load count of 300.
