Summary
This item has been included on the agenda to discuss and consider the City's participation in the Austin Chamber of Commerce's 2014 Intercity visit to San Francisco. Regional transportation, in general, and San Francisco transportation, in particular, will be featured during this Intercity visit. The Austin Chamber of Commerce plans to have the Metropolitan Planning Organization present to provide the urban/suburban context. The Mission Bay redevelopment will also be examined.
San Francisco is known for its tourism and hospitality and the Austin Chamber of Commerce is evaluating how to structure a session on this topic. The City of San Francisco will also brief the delegation on issues related to workforce development and economic development.
Deadline for City Council Action
Action is requested on July 8, 2014.
Fiscal Impact
The estimated cost for this year's Intercity visit is $2695 per person. Trip price includes briefing materials, airfare (not including checked baggage fees), ground transportation, accommodations and meals.
Funds for Council participation would be taken from the Council training and education line item 200-4415 of the Fiscal Year 2014 budget.
