Summary
At the November 19, 2013 Special City Council meeting, the City Council appointed Ms. Sue Lee Flores as the alternate to the Library Board for a one-year term beginning January 1, 2014. On December 4, 2013, Library Board Member Ms. Jeanette Larson provided notice of resignation and the city initiated advertisement for the opening. No applications have yet been received. This item has been provided on the agenda to allow for the City Council to appoint Ms. Flores as a regular member for the unexpired term and to continue to seek applications for the open position of alternate. Ms. Flores' application is attached.
Deadline for City Council Action
Section 8.05 of the city's home rule charter provides that any vacancy on the board or commission, for any reason, shall be filled for the unexpired term by council appointment within thirty days of the vacancy.
Projected Future City Council Action
An appointment to fill the alternate member vacancy will be brought in the future.
