Summary
The Public Works Street Maintenance crew recognized a need to replace the current asphalt paver machine and as a result, the funding to replace this equipment was recommended for approval as part of the FY23 budget and subsequently approved. The current machine is a 2008 model, wheel driven, hopper fed piece of equipment, which is not ideal for ensuring safety and a consistent satisfactory result when making road repairs. Staff is recommending replacing this 15-year-old piece of equipment with a larger unit that is track driven, giving it increased stabilization when applying asphalt, and a belt fed system which increases safety to the employees.
