Summary
This item requests approval to grant Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC an easement within 1849 Park to allow for access, operation, and maintenance of the newly installed primary electrical infrastructure.
The easement area encompasses the new underground conduit loop that connects the existing transformer near the football fields to the new transformer pad near the baseball fields, and back out to Cameron Road along the park’s main driveway. A looped electrical system enhances reliability by providing redundant power pathways, minimizing service interruptions, and allowing maintenance or repairs to occur without impacting the entire facility.
Approval of this item will grant Oncor the easement rights needed to release equipment and mobilize construction. To avoid delays to Oncor’s construction schedule for 1849 Park Phase 2, staff is requesting that the ordinance be considered effective upon first reading, consistent with City Charter provisions. The ordinance will still return for second reading for final approval.
This easement supports the City’s Strategic Goal of Infrastructure by ensuring timely delivery of primary power needed to complete the 1849 Park Phase 2 project.
