Approving a construction agreement with Andale Construction, Inc. in the amount of $443,411.64 for placement of HA5, a pavement preservation application and part of the Pavement Maintenance Program, on designated City streets and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
On February 11, 2020 City Council was presented the 2019 Pavement Report that provided the results of the City roadway condition analysis. The results of the analysis provided scoring of City roadways and corresponding recommendations of rehabilitation or preservation depending on the Overall Condition Index.
As part of the City’s Pavement Maintenance Program, staff plans and budgets for not only roadway rehabilitation for qualifying streets but also the preservation of roadways that fall within an Overall Condition Index indicating satisfactory conditions. This approach regarding preservation of good, conditioned roadways is to invest in preserving the roadway conditions in order to avoid a more involved and costly effort such as rehabilitation.
At the October 12,2021 Council meeting, staff provided a presentation that outlined the Pavement Maintenance Program and 5 Year Plan where rehabilitation projects and preservation projects were presented. With Heatherwilde Phase III, the 2022 rehabilitation project approved and soon to be underway, staff is recommending approval of the FY22 planned preservation project which will address roadways in the Falcon Pointe Subdivision as previously presented.
HA5 is popular and effective preservation method for roadways utilized by many Cities including the surrounding Cities of Georgetown, Round Rock, Austin and now Pflugerville. This is the third year that the City’s has been utilizing this method and the previous successful projects have proven to be effective. This proposed project will take approximately 14 days to complete.
