Summary
The Hendrickson High School Hawk Band Boosters and Mr. Garth Gunderson, Band Director at Hendrickson High School, have requested permission for the band to conduct a March-A-Thon on Saturday, November 20, 2010 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. The event is a fundraising activity in the form of a four-mile parade from Hendrickson High School through portions of Falcon Pointe and Blackhawk neighborhoods during which the students will play musical selections for neighborhood residents. Chief Chuck Hooker has approved the event and the Band Boosters and Band Director will be required to work with the Police Chief to ensure a safe event. A letter requesting permission and the parade route are attached.
Deadline for City Council Action
Action is requested on October 26, 2010.
Fiscal Impact
Police costs estimated at $156.00 which represents the cost for parttime officers and vehicles that will be used for this event. Although the band boosters have offered to pay this expense, the City has not requested payment for this activity in the past.
