Title
Recognition of Ms. Terri Waggoner for her completion of the Certified Public Communicator program.
Summary
On July 30, 2015 Pflugerville public information officer Terri Waggoner graduated in the second cohort (class) of the Certified Public Communicator program, the nation’s advanced executive education program for public information professionals.
Twenty public communications professionals from across the nation graduated after 95 hours of classwork at TCU and many more hours of homework beginning in July 2014. The post-baccalaureate, graduate-level residential program includes extensive coursework and graduates must create a three-year comprehensive communications plan for their organizations as approved and reviewed by strategic communication professors from the Texas Christian University (TCU) Schieffer School of Journalism. The complete Pflugerville communications plan is available for review.
The certificate program “offers leadership training and rigorous post-baccalaureate education for public information managers and communication professions working for cities, counties, school districts, and other public and public-private agencies and organizations,” according to the TCU Extended Education website.
The curriculum offers leadership training and coursework designed for the complexities and challenges of communicating with residents and stakeholders specifically for professionals working for cities, counties, school districts and other public and public-private agencies.
Since 2013 TCU has partnered with the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) to offer this first-of-its-kind program to public information professionals. For more information on the certification program, visit http://www.texastamio.org/.
