Discuss and consider action to authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order #1 with DKC Construction Group for the construction and expansion of the Public Works Offices at the Wastewater Treatment Plant site.
Summary
The construction contract with DKC Construction Group was executed on August 12, 2014 in the amount of $509,953 and construction is currently underway.
The original scope of work for this project included site improvements and construction of an approximately 2,500 sf addition to the administrative office building and a 1,250 sf addition to the Fleet Maintenance building. The original base bid improvements had an anticipated completion date of February 2015. The design work for this project is being performed by the architecture firm, Architecture Plus, Inc.
This change order will create an additional 1,000 sf of office space at the location and make minor modifications to the existing structure to accommodate additional personnel.
Prior City Council Action
At the August 12, 2014 meeting, the City Council authorized the city manager to execute a construction contract with DKC Construction Group for $509,953.
Deadline for City Council Action
Staff requests authorization of this change order to keep the project moving forward.
Fiscal Impact
The cost for the change order will be funded from the Utility Fund Balance. The final amount of the change order will be provided to council at the meeting.
