Summary
This resolution authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a PSN Grant award in the amount of $110,726.00 from the Office of the Governor for the continued funding of personnel overtime and purchasing of equipment for the license plate reader program which was funded with a Fiscal Year 2022 PSN Grant. This system will be used to identify, apprehend, and recover stolen vehicles entering the city limits and named “hot spots” within the city. The Camera systems will further assist in identifying known wanted suspects, assist in solving violent crimes, track known suspects linked to crimes within this and surrounding jurisdictions. There is no funding match for this grant from the City. Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents upon final approval of the City Attorney. Prior City Council Action
At the January 26, 2021 City Council regular meeting, Council authorized the City Manager to apply for, and receive, Project Safe Neighborhood grant funding for Fiscal Year 2022 for the implementation of a license plate reader program for crime prevention and investigation purposes.
