Title
Approving the selection of Architecture Plus, Inc. for professional architectural services associated with the design of a Public Works Maintenance and Field Operations Building and authorizing the City Manager to enter into negotiations regarding a scope of work and fee proposal.
 
Summary
This project will include the design and programming for site improvements and the architectural and structural design of a new approximately 8,000 square foot Public Works building that will comply with the Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA.) All work performed by the architectural firms and consultants must be in compliance with existing applicable federal, state, and local codes, statutes, and requirements. This building will house all Public Works field crews and foremen.
Status
City staff received seven (7) proposals. A review team of Public Works staff reviewed and scored the proposals. Architecture Plus, Inc. was selected as the most qualified firm for this project.
 
Projected Future City Council Action
A future agenda item will be scheduled to approve the contract for the project. Staff anticipates negotiations to take place in the next few weeks and a contract will be presented for Council review and consideration in July.
 
Fiscal Impact
The amount of $180,000 was included in the approved 2014 Utility Fund budget representing partial funding of this project.
 
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends the selection of Architecture Plus, Inc. for the design services associated with building a Maintenance and Field Operations Building for staff.
