Title
Approving the purchase of a FP5 Flameless Pothole Patch Truck from Bergkamp in the amount of $283,381 and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
The Public Works Streets Department has acknowledged a demand and a necessity to acquire a pothole truck to effectively uphold street safety, operations, maintenance and aesthetic appeal of Pflugerville roadways. Historically, the City has never had a dedicated pothole machine and has relied on labor-intensive methods, using 50-pound bags of cold patch manually placing it into the pothole and compacting the cold patch by hand, a process that is both time-consuming and less durable. As Pflugerville continues to grow and its road infrastructure ages, the demand for pothole repairs has increased significantly. To appropriately address this growing need acquiring a Bergkamp Flameless Pothole Patcher is crucial, as it significantly expedites repair times, enhances efficiency, and ensures high-quality, long-lasting patches, ultimately improving roadway conditions while optimizing available resources. The funding for procuring this equipment was proposed for approval within the FY25 budget and subsequently approved. This item is supported by the Infrastructure pillar of the Strategic Plan.
