Approving a request for a variance to Section DG8.1.C of the Engineering Design Guidelines for the installation of a pole mounted transformer and above ground connections to serve a portion of Lot 4 Block B of the Town Center Lots 1-4 subdivision, a 1.02-acre parcel, for the proposed Discount Tire Company located at 1601 FM 685 in Pflugerville, Texas.
Summary
Discount Tire Company has submitted a variance request to Section DG8.1.C of the Engineering Design Guidelines. Per Section DG8.1.C "All Electrical, cable, television, and telephone support equipment (transformers, amplifiers, switching devices, etc.) necessary for underground installations in subdivisions shall be pad mounted or placed underground in a public utility easement rather than a right-of-way". The Discount Tire site plan for 1601 FM 685 is approved and currently under construction. The developer is requesting that a pole mounted transformer be allowed in order to avoid a conflict with existing underground public utilities and maintain the clear aesthetic view of the property from FM 685. Currently there is existing overhead power with existing transformers located on both sides of FM 685. All onsite connections will be incorporated underground to service the property.
