This item considers approval of the purchase and installation of solar lighting from Fonroche Lighting America in the amount of $113,083 for improvements at Gilleland Creek Park, Heritage Park, and Pfluger Park.
The project will add solar lighting to the parking areas at Gilleland Creek Park and Heritage Park, as well as targeted locations along the trail within Pfluger Park where lighting is currently limited. These improvements will increase visibility and safety for park and trail users during early morning and evening hours and improve access to these heavily used recreational areas.
Solar lighting provides an opportunity to improve illumination in existing park and trail areas without the extensive trenching, electrical infrastructure, and site disturbance typically associated with conventional lighting. The proposed systems are designed for year-round, all-night operation and include battery storage, programmable controls, remote monitoring capabilities, installation, and long-term manufacturer warranties.
The purchase is being completed through BuyBoard Contract No. 790-26. Funding for the project is available in the approved Parks and Recreation budget.
