Authorizing the City Manager to execute a master professional services agreement with Bureau Veritas North America, Inc. for the inspection of food establishments under the City of Pflugerville Food Establishment Ordinance.
Summary
This agreement between the City of Pflugerville and Bureau Veritas provides for semi-annual inspections for food establishments permitted within the city limits. It also provides for sanitation plan reviews and inspections for the new construction of food establishments. The city has successfully contracted with Bureau Veritas for commercial plan reviews for over ten years and views this agreement as beneficial to the city as well as the food establishment businesses of the City of Pflugerville.
The agreemend has been reviewed by the City Attorney.
Prior City Council Action
The ordinance designating the City of Pflugerville as the regulatory agency for food establishment regulation was approved on first reading at the November 27, 2012 City Council meeting and is on the agenda for approval on second reading on this agenda.
Deadline for City Council Action
Staff is requesting approval on December 11, 2012 in order to implement the provisions of the Food Establishment Ordinance on January 1, 2013.
Fiscal Impact
Since the permit, inspection and plan review fees are associated with a pass-through contractual agreement, there is no fiscal impact associated with this resolution.
