Awarding construction bid for the Heatherwilde Boulevard Overlay project to APAC-Texas, Inc. of Belton, Texas, the lowest responsive bidder of two bids received on September 2, 2011, in the amount of $131,133.65. Resources from the FY 2011 and FY 2012 Streets Department Budget will be used for the project.
Summary
The Heatherwilde Boulevard Overlay project extends from the intersection of Heatherwilde Boulevard and Wilke Ridge Lane north approximately 1,700 feet to SH 45 right-of-way. The proposed improvements include a 2" asphalt pavement overlay. Construction is expected to commence on October 3, 2011 and is estimated to be complete by November 16, 2011. The attached "Heatherwilde Boulevard Overlay Bid Tabulation" includes the base bid values in which the low bidder was APAC-Texas, Inc. The total award amount is $131,133.65 including the base bid plus two bid alternates. The bid alternates are shown in "APAC Texas Inc. Bid" attachment.
Status
The project was advertised for bids on August 18, 2011 and August 25, 2011. Bids were opened on September 2, 2011.
Deadline for City Council Action
Staff is requesting approval on September 13, 2011 to maintain the project schedule.
Fiscal Impact
Resources from the FY 2011 and FY 2012 Streets Department Budget will be used for the Heatherwilde Boulevard Overlay project. The fiscal impact amounts to $65,189.48 from FY 2011 Budget and $65,944.17 from the FY 2012 Budget.

Staff recommends approval, awarding the bid to APAC-Texas, Inc.
