Summary
City staff through a committee representing all departments has been working on the redesign and improvements to the City's website for almost a year. The many hours of work from this committee is reflected in improved design and streamlined navigation. The website had not been updated for over five years. This update allows the City's website to be accessible through many media devices and provides information in ways that are expected by our citizens. Using the .gov convention allows the city to benefit from the governmental distinction and additional security features. The new website will go live at midnight, November 22, 2011.
The change to the web address will also be reflected in City email addresses. The previous cityofpflugerville.com address will be redirected to the new Pflugervilletx.gov address indefinitely.
Kathy Ellis, the City's web coordinator, spearheaded this effort for the City while working with Terri Waggoner, the Public Information Officer, on this vital communications tool.
Fiscal Impact
The cost of the website redesign was less than $15,000 due to staff's decision to work within our existing host site.
