Summary
The City of Pflugerville’s current water meter infrastructure consists of Neptune-manufactured water meters and registers. By standardizing to a Neptune product, it allows for common infrastructure for both AMI and AMR equipment to not duplicate reading equipment and necessary spare parts to service the various meter sizes that the City has. The City also stipulates Neptune manufactured water meters in our standard specifications for construction.
This purchase will be for all new water meter installations for fiscal year 2023 as well as any replacements that may be needed for this fiscal year on existing meters or registers that have reached their end of life. Neptune water meters are currently distributed by Core and Main within the Central Texas region and they are our sole-source for any Neptune water meters of any size. Core & Main has agreed to the City's standard purchasing rider.
Prior City Council Action
On November 9, 2021, City Council awarded the fiscal year 2022 water meter purchase to Core & Main.
